Sakr Habash

Sakr Habash is Secretary of Fatah's Revolutionary Committee, head of the Ideological Mobilization Department, and has been a member of the Fatah Central Committee since 1989. He began his political life with the Ba'thists in 1952 while studying Cairo, but became a Palestinian nationalist in 1960 and soon after joined Fatah in 1962 as a recruiter. He took over Fatah regional command in Lebanon in 1972. In 2000 he was the author of a major Fatah paper explaining why the Palestinian movement would never be able to make a real, lasting peace with Israel. Historically he has been a critic of Yasser Arafat and the Oslo Peace Accords.
