PNS Makran
PNS MAKRAN was commissioned as a coastal Naval Air Station on 23 October 1988 by the then Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Iftikhar Ahmad Sirohy NI (M) S.Bt. The unit is spread over an area of 968 acres. In addition to this, 15 acres of land is located Gorani.
Pasni is a coastal town of Balochistan, which is located about 210 NM west of Karachi. Its historical background dates back to 400BC when Alexander the Great passed thought Markran coast on his way to India. In old times Pasni was known as Karzanabad.
The city is administratively a Tehsil under district Gwadar with divisional headquarter at Turbat. The population of the city is about sixty five thousand, which includes Muslims, Zikris and few Hindu families. The inhabitants are traditionally fishermen. The local population is generally peace loving. More than 50% inhabitants are traditionally fishermen.
The area generally consists of low-level hills and sand dunes having a number of kacha tracks. The soil condition is hostile for vegetation therefore the area generally gives barren and arid looks. The weather remains generally hot and humid during summer and fairly pleasant during winter. Gusty winds and dust storms are frequent phenomena due to which visibility reduces to 100 meters or even less than that. Dusty weather prevails from April to December.
