Mongolia - Officers Rank Insignia
Rank insignia continue to be displayed on shoulder boards, but the details of the insignia and the rank structure itself have changed. General officers continue to wear broad, ornate gold stripe with a green background, with various numbers of pips. Although theoretically there exists insignia for a Marshal, as well as General [4 star] and Colonel General [3 star], with an army of fewer than 10,000 troops, and the Chief of the General Staff ranking as a Lieutenant General [with 2 stars], these rank insignia are not even of theoretical interest. The Lieutenant General is desginated with 2 pips, while the Brigadier General is dispensed with. Field-grade officers wear one horizontal gold stripes and smaller gold cross-shapped pips, and company-grade officers wore one horizontal gold stripe with smaller diamond-shaped gold pips.
