Units are integrated with personnel, armament and equipment neccessary to accomplish the missions assigned to the Mexican Army and Air Force. The strength of the units to which it refers may vary depending on the weapon, or specialty service in question. This means, for example, that an artillery company can have different number of elements that a company of infantry, military engineering, administration, etc. The Mexican Army Doctrine containing this information is considered for the exclusive use of military personnel.

The Arms of the Army are organized in elements constituted with control and control units, elements or units of a single weapon and the services that are necessary to him according to come. Element are Escuadras; Squads; Sections; Companies, Escuadrones or Batteries; Groups; and Battalions or Regiments.

  1. Escuadra [Squad] is normally the minimum and indivisible equipment battle or of work. Integrates with 3 or more soldiers, the commander is a Cabo [Corporal].
  2. Pelotón [Detachment, squad] is made up of two or more squds under control, constitutes minimum element battle of support. Integrated with a strength of 10 or more soldiers, the commander is a Sergeant 2º.
  3. Sección [Section], composed by two or more squads under control, has a small command group, is the smallest unit in which the tactical maneuver can be materialized in complete form to the being able to combine the action of several similar or heterogenous squads for the fulfillment of a mission. Integrated with a strength of 30 or more soldiers, the commander is a Lieutenant or a Second lieutenant.
  4. Compañía [Company] in infantry, tanks, engineers and services; the Escuadrón [Squadron] in cavalry, units armored and of recognition and the Battery, in Artillery. These three units of different denomination, but of the same organic level, are made up more of two or sections under a commander who has a command group. They are the smallest administrative units and constitute the basic element battle or on watch, within their respective arms or services. Integra with cash of 100 or more elements. Its commander is a Captain 1º or a Captain 2º, a Sergeant 1º is assistant of Company.
  5. Grupo [Group] is a unit smaller than the battalion but of equal administrative level, that has two companies, escuadrones or batteries, according to the weapon or service to that it belongs. Integrated with a strength of 600 or more soldiers, its commander is a Colonel and a Lieutenant Colonel is Second Commander.
  6. Batallón [Battalion], is the basic tactical unit, organized with several companies or batteries, plus all the indispensable services to fulfill his missions by itself normal. The control of the battalion has a command group type General Staff. They represent the maximum unit in its respective arms or services, when in these they do not exist regiments. In Cavalry, Artillery and Armored Recognition, the unit that responds to the characteristics described for the battalion is called a Regimiento [Regiment].
  7. Regimiento [Regiment], when this step exists, is the maximum unit of a same weapon or service; it is composed of two more battalions or groups, plus a command group of the necessary type General Staff and services for its operative needs.
  8. Brigada Divisionaria [Division Brigade] is a unit of regimental type, that is to say, constituted with two or more battalions of maneuver under a headquarters, plus the elements of support necessary to fulfill its missions. The formation is organic to a division and constitutes the basic element for maneuver in them. It is the highest level small unit element. [This is a doctrinal unit that does not exist in the Mexican Army, in the absence of Divisions, another non-existent doctrinal unit].
