Type 98 So-Da ammunition carrier
The Type98 So-Da (Kyu-Hachi-Shiki Sokounpansha So-Da) was designed in 1937 as a personnel and ammunition carrier based upon the chassis of the Type97 Te-Ke. In addition to its 2 crew members, the So-Da could carry 10 infantry or 1 ton of ammunition. The hull was open-top and the flatbed in back had a double door at the rear. The flatbed could be covered with a tarp over the three rail supports to protect the contents of the vehicle.

Type 100 Te-Re artillery observation vehicle
Type 100 Te-Re is a Japanese artillery observation vehicle used for target detection and reconnaissance for self-propelled and stationary artillery. The Type100 Te-Re artillery observation vehicle was based upon the Type98 So-Da. The machine was created on the basis of Type 97 Te-Ke tankettes, and production began in 1940. Type 100 Te-Re could carry a crew of six to eight people, the main machine was intended for the transport of surveillance equipment and radio equipment. In all from 100 to 150 units were produced. They were mainly used in the war against China.
The rear compartment was the place where the observers and the radio operator were located. Instead of being used to store goods or transport troops, this unit was equipped with a large radio station, surveillance equipment and a cable reel. Using this equipment, observers found targets and transmitted their coordinates to artillery positions. The crew also observed artillery fire and, if necessary, corrected the fire at targets.
