Shizafon Armored School Brigade
The Shizafon Armor Corps Training Base is in the heart of the Arava, in the middle of nowhere, two hours away from the closest city. This is a new base built according to American standards.
In October 2004 Israel staged war games as a show of strength at a time of confrontation with the Palestinians and Syria. F-16 warplanes dropped explosives, tanks charged across the desert firing cannons and infantrymen went house-to-house hurling grenades in Shizafon. The live-fire display at the desert training base in southern Israel began with a demonstration of Israel's conventional military tactics -- a simulated attack on Syria.
