102 Squadron - The Flying Tiger
Flight Training School
Although there is not much historical data available on the 102 squadron, various sources confirm that the 102 squadron has included A-4H Skyhawk fighters since 1968. The squadron upgraded its fleet to the A-4N variant by 1975 and has continued to use them for advanced training since that time.
As of July 2005, the 102 squadron included only TA/A-4N fighters used in conjunction with the Flight Training School (FTS). The FTS, in addition to flying TA-4N aircraft has also used Bell 206B and AH-1E helicopters and G-120A and CM-170 aircraft to train pilots.
It is unclear whether the 102 squadron is based at Ramon or at Hatzerim. Additionally, there have been reports that the 102 squadron will begin to fly F-16I aircraft sometime in 2006.
