Turkoman Islamic Union
Established in 1991 and led by Abbas al-Bayati. Membership is reportedly mostly composed of Shi'a Turkomans. The group has good relations with the PUK. In September 2003, U.S.-led occupation forces raided the group's offices in Kirkuk, seizing weapons and arresting three members, Baghdad's "Al-Jaridah" reported. The group claimed that the raid was related to an internal fight among the union's members.
