Camp As Samawah Camp Smitty
As Samawah is situated approximately 275 km southeast of Baghdad, along the Euphrates River. It serves as a virtual halfway point between Baghdad and Basra. The majority of the nearly 250,000 citizens are Shi'a Muslims. Since the 2003 invasion, Coalition Forces have established several Relay Points (RP) in and around As Samawah.
Camp As Samawah changed its name to Camp Sitty in honor of a British soldier who was killed in the area.
