Manzariyeh Airfield

The Manzariyeh Airfield (3458'58"N 5048'20"E) located at Kushk-e Norsat is 60 miles from Tehran to the southwest.

During the Iranian Hostage Crisis, military planners were looking to use the Manzariyeh Airfield as the transit point for the hostages. The Airfield was to be taken over by Army Rangers who then would secure the safe arrival of the C-141s which were to fly the hostages out of Iran. However, this plan was never carried out and the Desert One mission which ensued resulted in complete failure.
