Class 370 - Bochum - Minelayer
There was a third former LST that would be FGS Bamberg (N122) if her conversion would have been finished. She was the former USS Greer County (LST 799). When she was converted to 60% readiness all works stopped. She was never recommissined and was sold to the Netherlands in January 1970. Jane's Fighting Ships counted only TCG Bayraktar as in active service. Jane's reports that the minelaying gear was removed in 1974/1975 but replaced in 1979. Henceforth she's a dual-purpose ship.
On 01 January 1965 the squadron was renamed Minelaying Squadron. Right from the new start this squadron is part of the Command of Minewarfare Forces. In August 1965 the former Kriegsmarine salvage tug and Federal GE Navy squadron tender FGS Oste (A 52) joined the squadron after converson to a Class 753 intelligence vessel.
