Turbomeca TM (France)

Turbomeca, a subsidiary of the SAFRAN Group, mainly focuses on developing, producing and servicing helicopter engines. It addition, the company also manufactures aircraft engines, and markets industrial applications for turbines.

The company is located in France (5 sites, at Bordes (head-office and production), Tarnos (Customer Support), Pau-Uzein (Flight Test center), Mzires sur Seine (Accessories) and Bezon (industrial turbines), as well as around the world with at network of 11 subsidiaries. Today, Turbomeca has a headcount of 4000 and a turnover of over 600,000. To date, more than 48,000 engines have been produced, totaling 70 million flying hours for 1640 customers in 140 countries.

These figures are generated by a wide range of products, from 450 shp to 3200 shp. The list includes the Arrius (for helicopters such as EC135, EC120, A109), the Arriel (for the Ecureuil, EC145, Dauphin and S76 models), TM333B2 (for Indias ALH), the Makila (for Super Puma). With regard to engines manufactured in joint ventures, we are joining up with MTU for the MTR390 (designed for the Tiger) and with Rolls-Royce for the RTM322 (integrated on the NH90, EH101 and Apache). Future planning is a major requirement at Turbomeca and explains the launch of a new engine called Ardiden (1200 shp) for the new-generation 56 ton helicopter market (India has already shown interest for the engine and ordered 400 of them).

It should be noted that these achievements are the result of continuous investment in R&D, enabling Turbomeca to be a key manufacturer for helicopter engines, selected by Eurocopter, Sikorsky and Agusta to name but a few.
