Yavuz 155 mm gun system

The Machinery and Chemical Industries (MKE) developed the YAVUZ [ Yavuz means "grim", stern, resolute, "inflexible", or "unflexible"] cannon system was developed in line with the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces. Taking into consideration the present situation in the market, the project of developing a 155 mm gun system on 6x6 vehicle with high mobility was launched in April 2016 with MKE's own resources. The vehicle used for the T-155 millimeter 52-caliber MKE Yavuz system was fully armored. The system takes up to 1 minute to prepare for the shoot, and it takes at most 2 minutes to complete the shot and change the position. The car is equipped with double cabin at the capacity to carry 5 crew. The fully loaded maximum speed of the vehicle is 90 kilometers per hour. The system was successfully tested with live ammunition shots in April 2017.

Yavuz can be seen with 3 different types of ammunition at the same target with different elevation angles and propellant modules. The system is able to shoot military units and battalions within 40 kilometers of range with long-range ammunition. The risk of counterattack by the enemy is also diminishing because the artillery unit is far from the opposing targets.

The T-155 155mm Panter (Panther) towed howitzer is a completely Turkish designed and manufactured 155 mm 52 caliber with 40 km Range howitzer that can be towed or can be self propelled. The Panter towed howitzer was developed in the 1990s to meet operational requirements of the Turkish Land Forces Command (TLFC). Following trials and modifications of prototype systems, the first production order was placed.

The guns was fitted with a semi-automatic ammunition loading system that was electrically actuated and electronically controlled. With the weapon system, all ammunition of 155 millimeters in diameter that conforms to NATO standards can be used. It can fire 3 rounds in 15 seconds, 4-6 rounds per minute, 2 rounds per minute (continuous fire). The system uses a 12.7 millimeter machine gun as a secondary weapon. The system has a nuclear, biological, chemical (NBC) protection system, 7,62 x 51 millimeter (M80) ammunition and anti-personnel mine protection system.

The first batch of six 155 mm/52 calibre Panter systems were completed in mid-2002, built at the Cankiri facilities of MKEK CANSAS. Electronics specialist Aselsan has teamed with the countrys General Directorate of Military Factories (AFGM) to integrate the Turkish Panter 155mm 52 cal gun a towed system onto the chassis of a BMC-manufactured 66 10 ton truck. The truck is powered by a 440hp EURO 5 motor, giving it a 600k range and 90km/h max speed, and features an armoured cabin that can accommodate five crew along with a 12.7mm weapon station.

This configuration called Kamyona Monteli Obus (KMO) integrates a truck and gun system that are both already in Turkish service, which is seen as a cost-effective way of increasing the armys SPH capability without developing or buying new equipment.
