Lv 6 Air Defence Regiment
Air defence units are land based and form part of the Swedish Army. The principal task of the Air Defence Regiment is to protect important objects or activities against the threat of air attack. This protection covers, for example, the civilian population, national infrastructure that is important to the functioning of civil society, and our own land forces. The Air Defence Regiment's surveillance radar installations and its extensive communications interface with the Swedish Air force provide a comprehensive picture of the situation in Swedish airspace as well as ensuring better coordination and more effective defence in the event of hostilities.
Lv 6 in Halmstad trains national service personnel in areas such as intelligence gathering from radar surveillance, air defence command and control, logistics and the operational use of anti-aircraft missile systems. The Air Defence Regiment has units on standby for missions both in Sweden and abroad. It is also responsible at any time for the formation of units to take part in international missions. The regiment provides two air defence battalions as part of Sweden's national rapid response forces.
