SC MFA SA Mizil

S.C MFA S.A. Mizil [S.C. Mechanical Factory For Armament S.A.] is engaged, efficient and responsible, in activities both in civil and military manufacturing field. The tank repair facility at Mizil (founded in 1951) was developed in the early 1970s to achieve 80% of total production of components, sub-assemblies and parts made in Romania for tanks (T-55, TR-580, TR-800 tanks chassis and P-125), armored cars and 31 other types (infantry combat carcar combat hunters mountain-sized artillery tractors, TAR-76 and TMA-83, chassis obuzierului 122 mm self-propelled cal.).

From an organizational perspective, the Mizil Armament Factory was until 2001 part (a subunit) of the Autonomous Army Arsenal Administration and since 2001 was a branch of the ROMARM national company. In 2002 MFA Mizil became an independent company where the state was the majority shareholder and it was privatized in 2003. Currently, S.C. MFA S.A. Mizil is a private stock company.

The enterprise is fitted out with general-purpose and specialized machines. There is the possibility to work on CNC machinery. Also, we are specialized in heat treatments and galvanic coatings. The MFA has human resources with a high level of professional training. We maintain these qualifications by permanent training in order to respond to any market requirements. The quality management system has been evaluated and certified by Military Organism for Quality Certification (OMCAS), according to National Ministry of Defense requirements (N.G. O.M.C.A.S.-02.01) and SR EN ISO 9001:2001 and we are certified by civilian organism Total Q Arm for production of miltary and civilian final products.

SC MFA SA was founded in the 1950s as a result of the Orders from the Great General Staff. Ever since, it has been a point of reference not only in the armament industry, addressing especially to the industry of chain track armoured vehicles, but also in the civilian market, addressing mainly to the oil industry. Due to its diversified abilities, experience, and staff training, the company was able to include, today, in its own portfolio the following main activities: the upgrading program for the infantry fighting vehicle MLI-84M; the integration and manufacturing of the OWS-25R turret; oil industry engines type refurbished; machining by chipping and metallic structures; manufacturing of the 4x4 armoured wheeled tracked vehicles in cooperation with foreign companies.

Initially the activity of the factory was the repair of tanks and self-propelled guns, while later S.C. MFA S.A. Mizil also embedded in its activity the production of parts and assemblies for tanks and self-propelled guns, and a modernization package for the T55 tank. Since 1970, the factory located in Mizil started a process comprising the diversification of the range of military-related products and services, once shifted to the production of light-tracked combat vehicles. As a manufacturer and integrator of combat vehicles and weapons systems, S.C. MFA S.A. Mizil is interested in concluding partnerships for various projects with the companies in the military field.

All the tracked combat vehicles of the first batches, which are owned by the Romanian Army, were manufactured in Mizil, respectively:

  • 1978 - 1984 - 200 pieces of TR 580 tanks.
  • 1984 - 1987 - 36 pieces of Mountain Hunters Fighting Vehicle.
  • 1986 - 1989 - 200 pieces of chassis for the TR 85 tank.
  • 1988 - 1992 - 270 pieces of Medium Artillery Tractor.
  • 1988- 4 pieces of Ammunition Supply Armored Vehicle.
  • 1988 - 1990 - 21 pieces of Self-propelled Launcher (120 mm caliber).
  • 1987 - 1992 - 42 pieces of Self-propelled Howitzer (122 mm caliber).
  • 1999 - 2004 - 180 pieces of OWS - 25R turret.
  • 2003 - 2010 - 127 pieces of MLI 84 M vehicle (including derivatives on MLI 84 M chassis).

In 2003 MFA signed a Combat Vehicles Supply Contract with the Romanian Ministry of Defense according to which the company equipped during 2004-2010 three battalions of the Romanian Army with MLI 84M combat vehicles and with vehicles derived on the MLI 84M chassis. These combat vehicles have been NATO certified in 2005. Infantry fighting vehicle MLI-84M it is an armored vehicle, used for protecting, transporting and fighting against the personnel, the light armored vehicles and against enemy's tanks. Using the assembled equipment and the individual armament of the infantry division, this vehicle is also used against the logistic transport, paratroops and helicopters. It is working in very good condition on every kind of roads or fields. It can cross the waters through maximum 1,2 meters deep fords. This product is the result of the cooperation with prestigious partners, world leaders in military equipment production.

The OVERHEAD WEAPON STATION 25R [OWS-25R] System consists of: mechanical structure and elements: upper structure, turret bearing, cage structure, gunner hatch and seat. The the system is equipped with a 25 mm cannon ( but the turret can be equipped also with other cannon types, caliber 20, 23, 30 or 35 mm, according to the clients request), a 7.62 mm PKT machine gun and a guided anti-tank SPIKE missiles launcher. The weapon system also includes the operating mechanism of the weapons, ammunition feeding mechanism and electrical control units. The turret driving system the turret and the ammunition - operates electrical, with the possibility to be operated also manual, in case of failure. The sight and aiming system is a passive type, bi-channel, generation 2+ and is fitted with de-icing and cleaning units. The power supply system divides and leads the electrical power from the vehicle power source to all the power customers. The anticollision system (ACS) is an electrical system, which controls the turret movement to prevent risks, to the vehicle and the crew, by the weapon system.

One property proposed for sale is located in the western part of the town of Mizil, having direct access to route E577, Buzau and Bucharest so very easy access to the future A3.Has all the amenities, and more shared means of transport to ensure the city. The property is made up of industrial Hall 4.551 mp with a concrete structure and associated land 8,000 sqm free land and building. It has a height of 7 m, a length of 82, 45 m, a width of 54, 86m, 3 3 beams and sliding travei of TF 2 (1 on travee).
