Battalion of Marines No. 2 / Batalhao de Fuzileiros nº 2

The battalion of Marines No. 2 (BF2) was created by Ordinance No. 258/75 of May 16, 1975 when its genesis, were part of Marine company BF2 No 1 (CF1), a Company of Marines No. 8 (CF8) and, later, the company of Marines No. 5 (CF5). Almost two years later, through the Ordinance of February 25, 1977 96/77, the CF1, CF5 and CF8 came to be designated respectively by companies of Marines No. 21 (CF21), a company of Marines No. 22 (CF22) and company of Marines No. 23 (CF23) designation which remains to this day. The BF2 was quartered at the school of Marines since its inception until May 3, 1978, when he came to occupy the facilities existing in the Marines.

Throughout the ages, BF2, reinforced with operational resources of other Marine Corps units, has participated in numerous amphibious exercises in national and even international, of which stands the "Display Determination 76" (Monte Romano, Italy), the "Phibex 12/79" (Capo Teulada, Sardinia, Italy), the series "Galera" and more recently "exercises" and "Bredex Tapon", carried out under the European Union Amphibious Battle Group (EUABG) along with a Spanish-Italian Amphibious Force/Spanish-Italian Landing Force (SIAF/SILF) and the Hellenic Navy.
