Marine Corps Base / Base de Fuzileiros (BF)

The Marine Corps Base (BF) has as its primary mission to ensure the logistical measures, related to the aprontamento and employment of forces and marine Units and the functioning of the Marine Corps Command (CCF), as well as the school of Marines (EF). By Portaria No. 24049, the Minister of the Navy was created the Marine Force of the continent (FFC), on April 29, 1969, as an independent Unit and with the mission to organize and train marine Units to be used as landing and amphibious forces. Until 1975 the FFC were activated Special Corps Detachments (DFE) and companies of Marines (CF) to act overseas being disabled at the end of his Commission. Also on this date, according to Ordinance No. 24050, Minister of the Navy, was created and integrated in the FFC Attachés company, which operated as deposit of Sergeants and squares of Armada awaiting appointment to Commission of service or change of situation.

Within the framework of the reorganization of the forces and marine Units (Decree No. 94 of 29/01 September), he transferred the command of the Corps of reliance Chief of staff of the Navy to the Naval Commander, changed the characterization and the designation of the FFC, which no longer represent a set of units and has become an organ of logistical support-Marines-and rationalise the use of available resources. The Marine Corps Base (BF), located in the ALFEITE Naval Base area, in Lisbon (BNL), is thus the legitimate heiress to the FFC.

• Support with their services within technical and logistic, notably the CCF and marine units (UF) based in Alfeite.
• Maintain and ensure the operation of messes, canteens, accommodation and other facilities located in your area.
• Ensure the management of means of transport which are assigned in accordance with the determinations above.
• Ensure the safety of facilities located in your area with its own resources, or as may be assigned for this purpose.
• Ensure the storage, custody, maintenance and control of armaments, ammunition and explosives are assigned to units in dependence of CCF established in Alfeite.
• Promote the aprontamento of tactical vehicles, communications equipment and other means of operational use.
• Promote the staff aprontamento and sections of the services necessary for the support of the campaign.
