Jason-class Tank Landing Ships
The Jason class medium landing ships were designed and constructed in Hellas to replace aging ex-USN ships from World War II. Operational requirements and the surrounding area with scattered islands requires new and speedy "armatagwga" for satisfaction of needs of the armed forces. This led to the decision for the construction of five ships constructed at the Greek Elefsina shipyards, on the one hand, for economic reasons, and to acquire experience in the design and construction of warships in Greece. The armatagwga replaced the old ships of American manufacturing, which the Navy had.
