Croatian Army Uniform

In the missions they are deployed to and in the mass of members of other armed forces, Croatian soldiers are identifiable to a large extent, not only because of their professionalism but also because of their new camouflage uniform with a recognizable pattern, a computer-stylized shape of Croatia. The uniform is characterized by new material, camouflage digital print and new cut; it excellently fits in the environment with its “Croatian” ornaments and this has been shown in all past testings and verifications.

Defense Minister of the Republic of Croatia Branko Vukelic and KROKO - Internacional Director and holder of the contract of the Association of Bidders, Denis Popovic signed a contract for the procurement of new combat uniforms for the CAF’s requirements for 2009 that could last several years. This is a procurement of new combat uniforms in camouflage. The so-called desert variants that are technically and visually different from the old ones will have a stylized picture of the Croatian map. Specific qualities of the new uniforms are raw-materials structure, prolonged time of usage, long-lasting dyes, increased airiness and stability of material, as well as a specially designed recognizable “ornament”. Uniforms could be worn maximally for two years, meaning that durability has been prolonged.

The contract amounts to 40 million HRK and the goal is to equip and arm Croatian soldiers with Croatian equipment and weapons; this four-year old project has produced a Croatian product that is recognizable and of quality. Workmanship of the new uniform for one Croatian soldier will cost, about 2,400 HRK (in distinction from former 4,000 HRK). By the end of this year, half of Croatian soldiers will have received their new uniforms, and in 2010, all members of the armed forces will be provided with them. The first delivery of the new combat uniforms took place in April 2009.

New uniforms will be produced by 14 Croatian companies; these are 10,000 ensembles and 8,500 of them will be for requirements of the Armed forces on the territory of Croatia (camouflage, of prevailing green color in digital print), and 1,500 for use in peacekeeping missions (camouflage, of desert color in digital print). • BELT: As compared to the old one, the new belt has three safety systems that substantially diminish the possibility of coming off during crawling.
  • PROTECTIVE GEL: Pockets containing special gel d30 were placed on the knees and elbows. This latest invention additionally protects soldiers’ knees and elbows.
  • BACK PACK: If needed, a soldier can release the back pack by pushing a button.
  • POCKETS: All pockets have Velcro straps and do not have buttons.
