Bayraktar Mini UAV
Bayraktar Mini UAV System has been developed as Turkey's first mini-robot system which is completely original with national electronics, software and structural components of the aircraft. The system, which was developed with the hard work and effort of the Bayraktar R & D team, passed all the tests successfully and was first put into service of the Turkish Armed Forces in 2007. Mini UAV System, which has many advanced features compared to its competitors developed in foreign countries, can be used even under difficult geographical and meteorological conditions.
Bayraktar Mini Unmanned Aerial Vehicle is a totally in house production of Baykar Machine Inc located in Turkey / Istanbul. Main system components such as avionics, ground control station, digital encrypted data link, operator interface, physical fixed-wing platform are designed and engineered within the engineering group of Baykar Machine thorough its R&D efforts. All of the systems could easily be reconfigured according to the customer’s specific requirements.
The V-tail form, aerodynamically stable fixed-wing platform is designed and manufactured in a modular fashion with materials such as carbon fiber, Kevlar, glass fiber and CNC machined aluminum parts. The mini UAV system could be hand launched and land on its body. The power system is composed of 2 electric motors. Rapid system setup and deployment time satisfies mobility for both military and commercial applications requiring aerial surveillance and reconnaissance.
The advanced avionics system specifically engineered for Bayraktar Mini UAV with its embedded, real time software environment handle the stabilization, waypoint navigation, digital communication and digital image transferring functions. With its various modes the autopilot supports autonomous flight, autonomous take off and landing, half automatic control through joystick and manual control with a secure, digitally encrypted link.
The ground control station system with its embedded, real time software provides the management between the operator interface and the UAV. Operator interface running on a ruggedized windows based PC system, supports the command, control and monitoring of the UAV in flight in real time. Also the real time monitoring of the flight could be visualized in a 3D environment such as Microsoft Flight Simulator. Though the current system is based on single UAV and Ground Control Station applications, Software architecture of the electronic systems within the Bayraktar Mini UAV system is based on the multi UAV systems applications, which is still on the development phase.
