Austria - Beret Colors
As an outward sign, many soldiers of the Austrian armed forces wear a beret. The color of this hat shows among other things, the type of arm or unit a soldier belongs to. Officers wear a golden German Eagle instead of silver on their beret.
Green Beret
Worn by infantry and others, including the members of the territorial organization or the colleges and schools of the armed forces. But above all, the soldiers of the Jägertruppe force (7th fighter Brigade) with the exception of the 6th Jäger Brigade. The Jäger battalions wear the green beret 12 and 19 of the mechanized infantry brigades.
Black beret
Worn by soldiers of the Panzer and the Panzergenadiertruppe - and thus much of the soldiers of the 3. and 4th mechanized infantry brigade. The figure (with the Golden Federal Eagle) shows the beret of a tank officer.
Scarlet Red [Scharlachrotes] Beret
Worn by soldiers of the guard.
Red beret
Worn by soldiers of Klagenfurt Hunter battalion 25.
Coral beret
Worn by soldiers of the order troops, including members of the military patrol & military police commands.
Rostbraunes Rust brown beret
Worn by the school of management support, as well as the lead support Battalion soldiers 1 and 2.
Hechtgraues [Pike grey] beret
Worn by soldiers of the NBC defence school and unity "Austrian forces disaster relief unit".
Dark blue beret
Worn by soldiers of the army logistics school, as well as all members of equipment support command and its subordinate departments.
Yellow-green beret
Worn by the army athletes of the Army Sports Centre.
Olive Baret
Worn by soldiers of hunting commands [Jagdkommandos].
Olives beret (with hunting command badge)
Worn by soldiers of hunting commands with enclosed Hunting command basic course. They wear the hunting command badge instead of the Federal Eagle.
UN blue beret
Worn by soldiers in the service of the United Nations.
