TL-2 Anti-Ship Missile

China Aerospace Science and Industry Group dislayed models of the JJ/TL-1 and JJ/TL-2 anti-ship missiles in November 2008 at the 7th China Zhuhai Air Show. The China National Aero-Technology Import and Export Corporation distributed brochures for two new missiles, the TL-2 and TL-7, at the Singapore Airshow in Februar 2016. TL stands for "Sky Thunder", although the structure and mission of these two missiles has nothing to do with "Sky Thunder" guided weapons. AVIC is China’s state-owned enterprise responsible for the export and sales of defense and commercial aviation products. Its functions are similar to that of Russia’s defense product export company. In fact, both TL-2 and TL-7 missiles are products of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.

AVIC officials said that the TL-2 missile can be launched by land-based launchers or drones. The photos provided by AVIC show two TL-2 missiles mounted on ASN-209 medium-altitude and medium-range UAVs. The ASN-209 UAV has a range of 200 kilometers, while the TL-2 missile has a range of 6 kilometers. CATIC’s photo shows the missile destroying a light armored vehicle. Depending on the guidance system used, the missile’s circular error range is 2 to 10 meters. Its operating modes include three modes: direct attack mode locked before launch, midway navigation mode, and semi-active guidance mode locked after launch.
