From February to March 2016, it performed the pilot application task of the second leg of the 40th voyage of the Chinese Ocean in the Southwest Indian Ocean, which was also its first pilot application. The mission carried out a total of 8 dives, 7 of which were long-range detection missions, with an underwater duration of 231.3 hours, a cumulative range of 661.7 kilometers, and a detection area of ??218 square kilometers. The detection data were all complete and valid. In this experimental application, the detection area of ??Qianlong No. 2 exceeded the detection area of ??any deep-sea autonomous underwater robots in my country. The success of 4 consecutive long-range detections also set the highest level of deep-sea autonomous underwater robots in China.
Qianlong No. 2 is China's most advanced deep-sea autonomous underwater robot, which has reached the international advanced level. But its technical level and performance need to be further improved. With the continuous advancement of artificial intelligence technology, it may be possible to apply some of the latest smart technologies to the upgrading of submersibles on the basis of full demonstration in the future. Qianlong No. 3, the "younger brother" of "Yellow Fat Fish", was expected to conduct the first sea trial in March 2018. It and the Qianlong 2 are twin brothers. They are similar submersibles optimized and upgraded on the basis of them. The ocean is vast and the demand for deep sea exploration is increasing.
