Liao Xilong

Liao Xilong, native of Sinan, Guizhou Province, was born in June 1940. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in February 1963 and the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in January 1959. He graduated from the Basics Department of PLA Military Academy. As of 2002 Liao is a member of the Central Military Commission and director of the General Logistics Department of People's Liberation Army (PLA)

From 1959 to 1966 Liao was a soldier then a deputy squad leader, squad leader, 4th Company, 145th Regiment, 49th Division, Guizhou Provincial Military Command. In 1966 Liao became a Platoon leader then a deputy commander of 4th Company, and finally a commander of 5th Company, 145 Regiment, 49 Division, Guizhou Provincial Military Command.

From 1971 to 1971Liao served as Deputy head of Operation and Training Branch, headquarters of 91st Regiment, 31st Division, 11th Army of the Ground Force. From 1971 to 1978 Liao was the Deputy head of Military Affairs Section and Operation and Training Section, headquarters of 31st Division, 11th Army of the Ground Force. In 1978 Liao became Deputy commander of 91st Regiment, 31st Division, 11th Army of the Ground Force.

From 1979-1981 Liao was Commander of 91st Regiment, 31st Division, 11th Army of the Ground Force and concurrently studied at the Basics Department of PLA Military Academy. Then in 1981 he became Deputy commander of 31st Division, 11th Army of the Ground Force. From 1983 to 1984 he was Commander of 31st Division, 11th Army of the Ground Force.

In 1984 Liao became Deputy commander of 11th Army of the Ground Force and then Commander of 11th Army of the Ground Force in 1984.

From 1985 to 1995 Liao was Deputy commander of Chengdu Military Area Command and studied at the National Defense Research Department of the University of National Defense.

From 1995 to 2002 Liao served as Commander and deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Chengdu Military Area Command and was a part-time student in a post-graduate program of social and economic development and management at the Applied Sociology Section, Sociology Department, Beijing University from September 1999 to September 2001.

In 2002 Liao became a member of the CPC Central Military Commission and director of the PLA General Logistics Department. Liao was a member of the 15th and 16thCPC Central Committee, and as of 2007, a member of the 17th CPC Central Committee.
