Li Jinai

Li Jinai, a native of Tengzhou, Shandong Province, was born in July 1942. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in May 1965 and joined the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in December 1967. He graduated from the Engineering Mechanics Department of Harbin Institute of Technology. As a university graduate, he holds the military rank of a general. As of 2007 Li is a member of the Central Military Commission and director of PLA General Armament Department.

From 1961 to 1966 Li student of the Engineering Mechanics Department of Harbin Institute of Technology. Then in 1967 he became a soldier of 8th Company, 2nd Battalion, 253 Construction Regiment, Engineering Corps. In 1969 Li became a clerk of the Organization Branch and deputy platoon leader, 807 Regiment, 2nd Artillery.

In 1970 Li moved to the Publicity Division, Political Department of 52nd Base, 2nd Artillery and from 1970 to 1977 Li served as Deputy head and deputy political commissar of the Publicity Branch, 811th Regiment, 2nd Artillery.

From 1977 to 1983 Li was head of the Youth Section, deputy division head and concurrently head of the Organization Section, Organization Division, Political Department of 2nd Artillery. In 1983 Li was Deputy political commissar of the 54th Base, 2nd Artillery and worked at the Party Consolidation Office of the PLA from December 1983 to February 1985.

From 1985 to 1990 Li was Head of Cadres' Department, PLA General Political Department and in 1990 he became Deputy Director of PLA General Political Department. From 1992 to 1995 he was a Deputy political commissar of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense.

From 1995 to 1998 Li was a Political commissar of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. Then in 1998he became Political commissar and deputy secretary of the Party committee of PLA General Armament Department.

In 2002 Li was became a member of the CPC Central Military Commission and director of PLA General Armament Department. Li served as an alternate member of the 14th CPC Central Committee and member of 15th and 16th CPC Central Committees as well as the 17th CPC Central Committee.
