Jing Zhiyuan

Jing Zhiyuan, Han nationality, is a native of Xiangfan County, Hubei province. Born in 1944, Jing joined the PLA in 1963 and became a member of the CPC in 1969.

In 2005 Jing Zhiyuan was elected to the 17th CPC Central Committee and became a member of the 17th CPC Central Military Commission.

Jing started his PLA career as an soldier in the Artillery Force in 1963. In 1967 he was promoted to Deputy Platoon Commander of the 2nd Artillery Force and then to Platoon Commander in 1969.

From 1969 to 1970 Jing was the Deputy Regiment Commander of the 2nd Artillery Force and the from 1970 to 1985 hi was the Chief of Staff of the 2nd Artillery Force. From 1985 to 1993 Jing was the Deputy Commander of the 2nd Artillery Force at the 56th Base. In 1993 Jing was appointed to the Commander of the 2nd Artillery Force.

In 2001 Jing was promoted to Lieutenant General and then in 2002 he was elected to the 16th CPC, Central Committee and the Central Military Commission. From 2002 to 2007 Jing was a Member of the 16th CPC Central Committee.

As of 2003 Jing is the Commander of the 2nd Artillery Force. In 2004 Jing was promoted to General and in 2005 he was re-elected to the Central Military Commission of the PRC. In 2007 Jing was elected to the 17th CPC Central Committee, and a member of the Central Military Commission.
