Chin Chiang / Jinjiang / Qingyang Airbase

Located several dozen kilometers south of Chuan-chou [Quanzhou], the airfield at Chin Chiang [Jinjiang / Qingyang] is probably a military airbase with possible supplementary civil usage. Based on imagery from 1969, this facility consists of a hard-surface 5600 foot runway, with two alert hardstands, one at each end of the runway, capable of containing up to 40 total aircraft. There are at least 30 dispersed revetted hardstands. Each revetted hardstand could hold from one to three fighter aricraft as has been seen at other PLA bases. These revetments are in two groups: one at the northeast end and one branching off the northwest end of the base. There is a possible weapons storage area (WSA) in the northwest part of the base, signifying possible facilities for the storage of bombs and munitions for ground-attack aircraft. Chin Chiang could support between 30 to 90 combat aircraft. In addition to the possible WSA, there is a probable petroleum, oils, and lubricants (POL) facility. Further, air defense batteries appear to be located at the far northeastern end of the base.
