Sea tug Bei Tuo 739
According to the PLA Navy, on 20 July 2017, at a ceremony in Qingdao (China), a new type of head tugboat Bei Tuo 739 was introduced into the Northern Fleet of the PLA. The auxiliary vessel with a total displacement of about 6,000 tons, a length of 110 meters and a width of 16 meters became the largest tugboat in the Chinese fleet and one of the largest tugboats in the world, and, apparently, is intended to provide aircraft carrier groups of the PLA Navy. It is also reported that the ship is equipped with underwater rescue equipment to assist emergency submarines.
The marine tugboat Bei Tuo 739 was built in Guangzhou at the Guangzhou Huangpu Shipbuiding Company of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation China Shipbuilding State Corporation (CSSC) and was launched on July 16, 2016. It is reported that two more tugboats of this type are being built at this shipyard.
