Canada - Energy
Canada is the largest exporter of energy to the United States. In 2005, Canadian exports were 24 percent of U.S. energy imports. Canada's 13 percent share of crude oil exports to the United States trailed only Venezuela and Saudi Arabia. Canada was the largest source of refined fuel oil (15 percent) to the United States and dominated U.S. imports of natural gas and electricity. Real Canadian energy exports are likely to continue to increase at a rapid pace as continued high energy prices encourage more Canadian energy production and as the supply of energy continues to be tight worldwide.
