Faustin Archange Touadera

HE Professor Faustin Archange Touadera is the President, Head of State of the Central African Republic in office since his inauguration on 30 March 2016. Born in Bangui on April 21, 1957, Faustin Archange Touadera holds: State Doctorate of Pure Mathematics at the University of Yaoundé in Cameroon; Postgraduate doctorate of pure mathematics at the UST of Lille I in France; and Degree in Applied Studies in Pure Mathematics.

He began his career as Assistant Professor at the University of Bangui, then successively as Inspector of Mathematics, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Director of the National School of Higher Education (ENS) Professor of CAMES, Professor of Mathematics, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Bangui, Professor of Universities, Researcher at the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Bangui and becomes Rector.

Faustin Archange Touadera, in 2004, conducts Scientific work on Penrose Transformation and Global Resolution of a class of nonlinear hyperbolic systems on a characteristic Cone for his PhD Thesis in Pure Mathematics at the University of Yaounde at Cameroon and Scientific Works in 2005 to the Rendu Account (CR) Académie de Paris I, TSE Mathematics, CIAM Collection, EDICEF on global solutions of nonlinear hyperbolic systems on a characteristic cone.

Touadera started his political career in 2008 as Prime Minister, Head of the Government post he held until 2013. Touadera was one of the major men of the reforms in the Central African Republic. Faustin Archange Touadera declared his candidacy on August 4, 2015 to stand for the Presidential Election in the Central African Republic as an Independent Candidate. The new president, Faustin Archange Touadéra , elected on February 14, was sworn in on Wednesday, 30 March 2016 at Bangui.

Faustin-Archange Touadera was the surprise candidate . Taciturne, discreet, maybe a little too much, the man knew throughout his career to rely on tangible successes. Professor of mathematics, rector of the University of Bangui, then deputy, it is the ex-president François Bozizé himself who will go to the university to appoint him prime minister, from 2008 to 2011. It is under his mandate that he will bank the salaries of civil servants. An action that has remained engraved in the memory of the Central Africans who see him as a competent financier.

And yet, money was what cruelly failed him during his campaign. He presented himself as a freelancer after announcing his will to run for the supreme magistracy a little too hastily, while the candidacy of François Bozizé had not yet been invalidated. A rush that has earned his eviction from the party of the former head of state, the KNK.

Regardless, Faustin-Archange Touadera rallied the disappointed of the first round and finally won the election. Many of its critics point out that its many alliances could harm it in its first months of mandates. A 59-year-old civil society leader, he will have the onerous task of reconnecting with the people and engaging in genuine reconciliation between communities, even before embarking on the reconstruction of the country.
