M789 (HEDP) High Explosive Dual Purpose
30mm Light Weight Ammunition

Alliant is under contract to produce 494,340 M789 HEDP Cartridges with a 100% option, 70% of which has been let. The option is being used to supply FMS needs. There is potential for FMS beyond the contract option quantity but this is speculative. There are no planned US Army buys through FY00.

The Weapon System Matrix Management Team Charter No. 4-92 for the Lightweight (LW) 30mm Ammunition Program was signed by Major General Paul L. Greenberg on 4 June 1993.
