M1 105mm Cartridge

The 105mm M1 (HF1) is a high lethality version of the M1 employing HF1 steel material. The HF1 version of the M1 has a lethal fragmentation area 25% greater than the M1 shell and a 50% and 75% increased effectiveness against light material targets and personnel, respectively.

This ammunition is employed on the US Special Forces AC-130H Spectre and AC-130U Spooky. These aircraft carry 105mm cannons mounted on the left side and are utilized in close ground support roles to infiltrate, re-supply, and exfiltrate special operations forces.

The body of this 105mm projectile consists of a hollow one-pice steel forging. A fuze adapter is screwed into the body and brazed in place.
