Gulfstream G700
The industry flagship Gulfstream G700™, introduced in October 2019, is the most spacious, best-performing aircraft in the business-jet industry. It features the Symmetry Flight Deck™ and blends ultralong range, speed and performance with flight-deck innovation and cutting-edge cabin creation to offer customers an unprecedented aircraft experience. The aircraft will fly 7,500 nautical miles/13,890 kilometers at Mach 0.85 or 6,400 nm/11,853 km at Mach 0.90, and its maximum operating speed is Mach 0.925. Gulfstream anticipates G700 customer deliveries beginning in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. announced December 20, 2021 the all-new Gulfstream G700 had made great strides in its flight-test program and is capping 2021 with additional accomplishments, including the use of a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) blend on 83% of G700 flights launched from the Savannah-based Gulfstream Flight Test Center. “Getting this amazing aircraft in front of customers has been one of the highlights of 2021,” said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream. “We are also further demonstrating our commitment to SAF by using the fuel blend as much as possible on G700 test flights — five out of six test aircraft have used the fuel blend on every flight. We look forward to building on these successes in 2022 and accomplishing even more program milestones as we move closer to customer deliveries.”
The G700 has set city-pair records on all its major international trips for customer viewings. In September, the fully outfitted production-test aircraft set speed records from Savannah to Doha, Qatar; from Doha to Paris; and from Paris back to Savannah. The G700 then made record-setting flights from Houston, Texas, to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and returned in record time from Riyadh to Savannah. The city-pair flights were made using a combination of SAF and carbon offsets to minimize environmental impacts. In addition to maintaining an industry-leading role in using and promoting the safety, ease and performance capabilities of SAF, Gulfstream also supports the industry’s overall efforts to decrease carbon emissions by providing SAF to customers and being the first business-aviation manufacturer to sign the World Economic Forum’s Clean Skies for Tomorrow 2030 Ambition Statement. To date, Gulfstream has purchased more than 1.6 million gallons of the SAF blend for company and customer use.
Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. announced May 22, 2022 the new industry flagship Gulfstream G700 continued to make progress through Gulfstream’s rigorous flight test program. The G700 is proving strong maturity through a multitude of test points as it heads toward customer deliveries later this year. In addition, Gulfstream announced it will introduce a second fully outfitted production test aircraft to evaluate more G700 customer interior features in the most spacious cabin in the industry and ensure unparalleled product maturity upon entry-into-service.
“The G700 is performing flawlessly through the flight test program,” said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream. “We have flown more than 2,800 flight hours across all flight test aircraft, and the G700 is exceeding our expectations for performance and comfort. In fact, our fully outfitted production test aircraft has already set seven international city-pair records, and we are looking forward to delivering the second outfitted aircraft soon.”
In addition to the outfitted production test aircraft already flying, the G700 flight test program includes five aircraft. The program has successfully accomplished critical phases-of-flight tests, including envelope expansion, flutter, aerodynamic stalls, flying qualities, flight control systems and air-data testing, as well as cold weather and high-altitude testing and all required structural testing.
The second fully outfitted production test aircraft will further illustrate the flexibility, comfort and innovations the G700 brings to the industry, including a grand suite with shower and all-new circadian lighting system. The aircraft is expected to make its first flight in the summer of 2022. Doubts around the entry date for the G700 are down to FAA certification, which could slip beyond 2022 due to a regulatory issue. By mid-2022 the aircraft program had flown almost 3,000 flight test hours and the performance numbers are better than anticipated.
