Supporting Arms Training Exercises (SATEX)
After the Thanksgiving Holiday, the Third Battalion, Sixth Marine Regiment rolled right into the Regimental Supporting Arms Training Exercises (SATEX) on 28 November 2000. The SATEX focused on FiST teams' internal procedures in preparation for the upcoming Battalion deployment to Twentynine Palms, CA for CAX. The FiST teams honed their call for fire and close air support procedures by employing artillery, mortars and fixed and rotary wing air assets. On Friday 01 December the Marines and Sailors deployed to Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia. This deployment initially focused on the Marines' individual skills and progressed through squad, platoon and finally company level live fire events. After two weeks of rigorous and demanding training the Battalion executed a tactical air retrograde utilizing Marine KC-130 Aircraft.
