Operation Lancer Fury
April 2004
The 1st Cavalry Division participated in Operation Lancer Fury in the Baghdad slum known as Sadr City. Militiamen loyal to Moktada al-Sadr had entrenched themselves in the city and were resisting coalition forces. Operation Lancer Fury was one of many operations initiated in hopes of disarming and disbanding militia forces.
