Operation Cyclone
Operation Zoba'a

September 11, 2005 - ?

Operation Cyclone, or Zoba'a in Arabic, was a cordon-and-search mission conducted by the Iraqi Security Forces and the Coalition Forces launched on Sept. 11, 2005.

The operation was aimed at rooting out Al Qaeda in Iraq terrorists operating within the area and disrupting terrorist support systems in and around the western Al Anbar province town of Rutbah.

For a number of months prior, ennemy forces within Rutbah had escalated their actions against the local populace and city government officials, resulting in an increased ability to move freely within the area and a base from which to launch attacks.
