Operation Crazyhorse Thunder

Operation Crazyhorse Thunder took place on June 23, 2007. The operation targeted an IED cell, based in the Abu Shiekan and Abu Hillan villages, believed by the military to be responsible for setting IEDs several times a week along the highway.
Troop C, 1st Squadron, 89th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division conducted the nighttime raid
The operation was based on information provided by area residents and from local tips. The cell was operating in an area 12 kilometers southwest of the Iraqi capital. Seven suspects were detained for allegedly planting improvised explosive devices along Route Tampa, the highway leading into Baghdad.
