Peter McPherson
Financial Coordinator
Peter Mcpherson served began his career with the Internal Revenue Service, working on International taxation from 1968 to 1975. From 1975 to January 1977 he served as special assistant and Deputy Director, Presidential Personnel Office for President Gerald Ford. In 1977 he left the government to head the Washington office of Vorys, Sater, Seymour, and Pease, a position he held until 1980. In 1981 he became the Chairman of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation. during this time, Mr. McPherson returned to the government, becoming an administrator for USAID managing missions in 70 countries, maintaining a staff of approximately 5,000, and an operating budget of between $6 and $7 billion per year.
In 1987 he became Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, a position he held until March 1989. In April 1993 he was named Group Executive Vice President, Investment Management Group until becoming president of Michigan State University later that same year. Mr. McPherson is on temporary leave from Michigan State while acting as Financial Coordinator for Iraqi Reconstruction.
