Golden Medic
Golden Medic is USARC's largest peacetime medical exercise done annually. Under Golden Medic 3d Medical Command and all assigned and attached units implement a multi-echelon/muti-functional METL focused command post and field training exercise concurrently at Ft. Gordon, GA, Ft. McCoy, WI, and Camp Parks, CA. Subordinate commands and supporting non-medical units will deploy to designated training sites, establish operational areas and conduct battle focused training on all aspects of combat health support.
- Conduct staff planning and synchronization utilizing the military decision making process (MDMP).
- Establish tactical operations center, administrative, and operational areas.
- Coordinate staff activities.
- Provide command and control.
- Supervise NBC defense operations.
- Establish and maintain communications.
- Perform advance/quartering party activities.
- Occupy new operating site. Perform operational decontamination.
- Defend unit area. Respond to threat actions.
- Provide combat service support (CSS) and combat health support (CHS) functions.
- Perform risk management procedures.
These tasks constitute the basic training core of the exercise. Units must consult their particular mission training plan (MTP) to extract the tasks, condition, and standards as they apply to their unit. Commander's have the latitude to select additional tasks for inclusion in their annual training schedule based on their own METL assessment. For Golden Medic 01 at the Fort Gordon RTS-Med site, the RTS-Med Fort Gordon staff will train in cooperation with the 4th Training Support Brigade, 87th Training Division in the areas of force protection and tactical operations center (TOC) operations.
