OBSERVATION: Procedures for handling the media vary greatly across the Brigade Sector.
DISCUSSION: Procedures for handling the media in the AOR differed from one unit to another; access to and through the AOR should have standard and unlimited, as for any other civilian traveler.
LESSONS: Standardize media handling procedures throughout the sector. Media representatives should have the same access as the general public. However, checkpoints should report the presence of media, their names and agencies. Escorting media from one checkpoint to another - when feasible - is a good technique to maintain control, and to give an opportunity to tell the unit's story.
