FOREWORD
Preparing for deployment or annual training can be a daunting task for any staff to accomplish.
This publication provides tactics, techniques, procedures, (TTPs) for Reception into the theater, Staging of equipment and soldiers, Onward movement to the tactical assembly area, and Integration of a combat-ready unit for the tactical commander. Our intent is to explain and define the Reception, Staging, Onward movement, and Integration (RSOI) process at the tactical level, and provide a method of tracking combat power throughout the process. Also incorporated in this publication are pertinent RSOI TTPs and lessons learned gathered by the Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL) Combined Arms Assessment Teams (CAATs) deployed to Bosnia's Operation JOINT ENDEAVOR and JOINT GUARD, the Combat Training Centers (CTCs), and Kuwait's Exercise INTRINSIC ACTION. CALL's analysis shows that RSOI and its functions, sub-functions and defined success indicators are the same whether you are a member in an Active Component (AC) unit or in a Reserve Component (RC) unit. Therefore, one may be able to learn from the experiences of another unit regardless of its component. With the single exception of training at home station in preparation for an RSOI mission, there appears to be no major differences between components in how they conduct this operation.
CALL exists to share information across the Army. In this newsletter, CALL shares the information gained from observations of many units undergoing the rigors of the RSOI process. Make use of this beneficial knowledge in your training and preparation for, and the execution of, assigned missions.
