Although there are many ways of analyzing Courses of Action (COA) during the staff planning process, most units develop a standard procedure. In this example, the commander determines that operational risk and the risk of fratricide are significant factors with respect to this mission. He will consider them when selecting the best course of action. As with any adverse factor associated with the COA he picks, the commander will take measures to reduce the likelihood of a precondtion of fratricide. |
