1. PROMULGATION STATEMENT. THIS TABLE OF ORGANIZATION PRESCRIBES

THE ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE, BILLET AUTHORIZATION, PERSONNEL

STRENGTH, AND INDIVIDUAL WEAPONS FOR A TANK COMPANY, TANK

BATTALION, MARINE DIVISION, FLEET MARINE FORCE.

3. MISSION AND TASKS. CLOSE WITH, AND DESTROY THE ENEMY USING

ARMOR PROTECTED FIREPOWER, SHOCK EFFECT, AND MANEUVER.

4. CONCEPT OF ORGANIZATION

A. GENERAL. THE COMPANY CONSISTS OF A COMPANY HEADQUARTERS

AND THREE PLATOONS.

B. COMMAND AND CONTROL

(1) COMMAND AND STAFF. THE COMPANY COMMANDER, WITH HIS

COMPANY HEADQUARTERS STAFF, PERFORMS COMMAND AND STAFF FUNCTIONS

NECESSARY FOR EFFICIENT PLANNING, DIRECTION, AND SUPERVISION IN THE

EXECUTION OF ASSIGNED MISSIONS. THIS IS EITHER AS PART OF THE

BATTALION, OR AS A COMPANY ATTACHED TO, OR IN DIRECT SUPPORT OF AN

INFANTRY UNIT.

(2) COMMUNICATIONS. CAPABLE OF EFFECTING RAPID AND

RELIABLE COMMUNICATIONS BETWEEN THE COMPANY HEADQUARTERS, TANK

PLATOONS, SUPPORTED UNITS, AND HIGHER HEADQUARTERS. THE PRIMARY

METHOD OF COMMUNICATIONS IS RADIO, WITH ALTERNATE MEANS BY

MESSENGER, WIRE, AND VISUAL DEVICES. THE TANK PLATOON HAS AN

ORGANIC TACTICAL VOICE RADIO NET, LINKING THE PLATOON COMMANDER

WITH EACH TANK AND SUPPORTED UNITS.

(3) INTELLIGENCE. COMBAT INTELLIGENCE AT THE COMPANY LEVEL

IS INSEPARABLY LINKED TO COMBAT OPERATIONS. PROCESSING IS LIMITED

TO EXPEDITING THE TRANSMISSION OF INFORMATION TO THE BATTALION

COMMAND POST. THE TANK COMPANY COLLECTS INFORMATION BY DIRECT

OBSERVATION, PATROLLING, AND ENCOUNTERING ENEMY PERSONNEL AND

MATERIAL. THERE IS LIMITED ORGANIC SPECIALIZED RECONNAISSANCE AND

SURVEILLANCE CAPABILITY WITHIN THE TANK COMPANY.

C. FIREPOWER. THE MAIN FIREPOWER FOR THE COMPANY IS PROVIDED

BY THE WEAPONS OF THE ORGANIC TANKS. COMPANY HEADQUARTERS CONTAINS

LIGHT INFANTRY WEAPONS TO PROVIDE FOR ITS LOCAL SECURITY.

D. MOBILITY. THE COMPANY'S TANKS ARE THE PRIMARY MEANS OF

TACTICAL MOBILITY. THE COMPANY HEADQUARTERS HAS LIMITED MOBILITY

IN THE FORM OF LIGHTWEIGHT VEHICLES.

E. LOGISTICS. THE TANK COMPANY'S LOGISTIC EFFORT IS BASED ON

UNIT DISTRIBUTION OF SUPPLIES, SIMPLE SUPPLY PROCEDURES, AND

LIMITED ORGANIZATIONAL MAINTENANCE. WHEN AUGMENTED WITH ADDITIONAL

TRANSPORTATION ASSETS FROM THE BATTALION, THE COMPANY CAN CARRY A

BASIC ALLOWANCE OF AMMUNITION, AS WELL AS HANDLE THE INTERNAL

DISTRIBUTION OF SUPPLIES. ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES, MAINTENANCE,

MEDICAL SUPPORT, AND TRANSPORTATION ARE PROVIDED BY THE BATTALION.

5. CONCEPT OF EMPLOYMENT. TANK COMPANIES ARE EMPLOYED AS THE

PRIMARY TACTICAL UNITS OF THE TANK BATTALION. THEY MAY ALSO BE

EMPLOYED IN SUPPORT OF, OR ATTACHED TO, THE INFANTRY BATTALION AND

REGIMENT. MASSED, THE TANK COMPANY CONSTITUTES A POTENT COMPONENT

OF OFFENSIVE COMBAT POWER. IN THE DEFENSE, WHEN MASSED AND POISED

FOR OFFENSIVE ACTION, THEY CONSTITUTE AN EFFECTIVE MEANS OF

COUNTERATTACK.

6. ADMINISTRATIVE CAPABILITIES. ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT IS

PROVIDED BY THE TANK BATTALION.

7. LOGISTIC CAPABILITIES

A. MAINTENANCE. CAPABLE OF 1ST ECHELON MAINTENANCE OF ALL

MATERIAL AUTHORIZED THE COMPANY AND 2ND ECHELON MAINTENANCE OF ALL

ORDNANCE AND ELECTRONICS MATERIAL.

B. SUPPLY. RECEIVES AND DISTRIBUTES SUPPLIES. DOES NOT

POSSESS SUPPLY STOCKING CAPABILITY.

C. TRANSPORTATION. ORGANIC VEHICLES PROVIDE A LIMITED MEANS

FOR TRANSPORTING RATIONS, OTHER ESSENTIAL ITEMS; AS WELL AS SUPPORT

FOR COMMAND AND MESSENGER SERVICE. TRANSPORTATION FOR AMMUNITION

AND FUEL RESUPPLY IS PROVIDED BY THE BATTALION.

D. MEDICAL. MEDICAL SUPPORT IS PROVIDED BY THE BATTALION.

E. DINING. SUBSISTS IN THE BATTALION'S MESS IN GARRISON AND

IN THE FIELD. WHEN THE COMPANY OR ITS PLATOONS ARE DETACHED, MESS

IS PROVIDED BY A DETACHMENT FROM THE BATTALION DINING FACILITY, OR

SUPPORTED UNIT FACILITIES, AS PRACTICABLE.

8. SUPERSESSION. THIS TABLE OF ORGANIZATION SUPERSEDES TABLE OF

ORGANIZATION NUMBER M-4233 OF 18 JUNE 1976 AND IS EFFECTIVE UPON

RECEIPT.
