SRC 87000A100 - When Organized as an Armored Division With
5 Tank (M1), 4 Mech (BFVS), and 2 AHB (AH64)
SRC 87000A200 - When Organized as an Infantry Division (Mechanized) With
4 Tank (M1), 5 Mech (BFVS), and 2 AHB (AH64)
1. MISSION. To destroy enemy armed forces and to control
land area including population and resource centers.
2. ASSIGNMENT. To a Corps or Joint Task Force.
3. CAPABILITIES.
A. At level 1 this unit:
(1) Conducts sustained combat operations under all
conditions.
(2) Accomplished movement to contact, hasty and
deliberate attacks, exploitations, and pursuit.
(3) Disperses over great distances and concentrates
rapidly from widely separate areas.
(4) Maneuvers to exploit the effects of nuclear and
chemical fires.
(5) Conducts offensive operations.
(6) Conducts defensive operations.
(7) Conducts retrograde operations.
(8) Acts as a covering force in offensive, defensive,
and retrograde operations.
(9) Provides organic air defense against low altitude
threat manned and unmanned aircraft.
B. The columns under levels 2 and 3 adapt this table for
reduced operational capabilities in decrements of 10%, from
approximately 90% for level 2 to 80% for level 3.
C. This unit is not adaptable to Type B Organization.
D. The columns desiganted by levels 1 throught 3 are
designed to relate to the categories established in AR 220-1,
Unit Status Reporting..
E. Augmentation increases the capabilities of this unit
as indicated in Section 1, General, of each applicable TOE.
F. Individuals of this organization, except chaplains
and medical personnel, can assist in the coordinated defense
of the unit's area or installation.
G. This unit si capable of performing organizational and
direct support maintenance of its organic equipment as noted
in the Section 1 of each organic TOE.
H. This division has the following limitations:
(1) Heavy equipment can not be lifted by Army
aircraft.
(2) Mobility is restricted by jungle, dense forest,
steep, rugged terrain, and major water obstacles.
(3) Heavy logistic support is required to include
rail or highway transport of tracked vehicles for long
administrative moves.
4. BASIS OF ALLOCATION. Normally to a corps in conformity
with operational requirements.
5. CATEGORY. For category designation of the components

6. MOBILITY. For mobility of the components of this unit,
see Section 1, General, of each applicable TOE.
