CONTAINER INSPECTION CHECKLIST

This appendix provides criteria for inspecting containers. Container inspec-tions aid in determining liability for container damage and/or loss and should be made both at the time of pickup and delivery. Inspection forms should be required and may be prepared and reproduced locally. The following checklist contains basic criteria that should be included when evaluating containers

 

  • Container Exterior.

o Container exterior is free of holes, cuts, or severe dents.
o All hinges, fasteners, doors, reflectors, and lifting eyes are in good condition (not broken, bent, or otherwise damaged), and secure.

  • Container Interior.

o Container interior is free of holes or breaks in roofing, floor, and sides.
o Interior is free of loose debris.

  • General.

o Container is of proper size (meets mission requirements).
o Container is in serviceable condition (if not serviceable, request replacement).
