PRACTICE EXERCISE

ANSWER KEY AND FEEDBACK

Situation: You are a platoon leader. Your unit is preparing to conduct offensive operations. You are reviewing the assigned offensive control measures and issuing instruction on consolidation and reorganization to your squad leaders.

1.

You are explaining the purpose of offensive control measures to your squad leaders. You--
  A. state that control measures are only selected by battalions and higher.
  B. tell them that control measures are only used on maps.
  C. state that control measures are not normally related to terrain features.
  D. inform them that control measures are used to regulate or direct the platoon's movement, positions, and fire.

Control measures are used to make sure units follow correct routes, and that they reach, and cross specified points at designated times. Without these measures, leaders would be required to communicate constantly with their units to maintain control during movement and other offensive operations.
     
2. Your platoon is preparing to conduct a patrol and must pass through enemy positions without being detected. The company commander is assigning control measures. He--
  A. assigns an infiltration lane.

Control measures are used to regulate or direct his platoon movement. The platoon must stay within the limits of the lane
