MANILA -- The Philippine Fleet (PF) concluded on Monday its annual unilateral exercise set to hone the combat skills of its air and naval units.
In a statement Tuesday, the PF said this year's iteration of Exercise "Pagbubuklod" focused on the four dimensions of naval warfare: anti-surface warfare, anti-subsurface warfare, anti-air warfare and electronic warfare.
"Conducted in two phases — the in-port/harbor phase and the field training/at-sea phase — the exercise combined mission planning, capability preparation, and hands-on execution," it said.
Through coordinated drills, simulated combat scenarios and subject matter expert exchanges, the participants tested and validated operational doctrines, tactics and procedures across multidimensional fleet operations.
Around 1,000 personnel, including reservists, participated in the exercise, which was supported by 12 Philippine Navy (PN) ships, three air assets from the Naval Air Warfare Force, two FA-50PH aircraft from the Philippine Air Force, and additional deployment from the higher headquarters.
"These combined capabilities enabled comprehensive coverage and ensured realistic training across the four naval warfare domains," the PF said.
"Pagbubuklod," which started on Nov. 17, emphasized deliberate planning, enhanced joint-force interoperability and seamless coordination among the PF units together with other Armed Forces of the Philippines and PN components.
It also incorporated locally supported assets consistent with the AFP's Self- Reliant Defense Posture.
The PF said this year's exercise was conducted in full alignment with the Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept, which underscores synchronized and layered defense across the nation's maritime domain. (PNA)
