Velayati condemns Israeli regime's deadly attack on Beirut

Tehran, IRNA -- Ali Akbar Velayati, Secretary-General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening, has strongly condemned the Israeli regime's repeated aggression against civilians in Beirut's southern suburbs, warning that international silence amounts to complicity.
In a statement issued late Monday, Velayati said the "silence of the international community in the face of the criminal behavior and crimes of the Zionist regime" reflects "sympathy with this regime" and stressed that "the costs of such an approach will be imposed on them in the future."
According to the statement, despite the ceasefire deal between Israel and Lebanon, the occupying regime "not only did not remain committed to its obligations within this agreement, but has also repeatedly introduced itself as a clear violator of human rights and the rules governing international law through blatant violations of the ceasefire, acts of aggression, widespread airstrikes, repeated bombings, and targeting of civilian infrastructure, innocent people, resistance commanders, and Lebanese women and children."
He further denounced the assassination of Haytham Ali Tabatabai as "a treacherous and surprise attack," saying it violated Lebanon's sovereignty and aimed to impose illegitimate demands and spread fear and instability.
