19.11.2025

Two German Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft deployed to the 57th Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base, conducting enhanced air policing missions, scrambled on the night of November 18th to 19th, at 00:25, to monitor the air situation at the border with Ukraine, following the Russian air attacks in the vicinity of the river border with Romania.

A Ro-Alert message was sent to the population in the north of Tulcea County at 00:20, and the signal of a drone that penetrated approximately 8 km into the national airspace-from Vâlcov towards Periprava and Chilia Veche - was detected for a few minutes and then disappeared from the radar.

The drone reappeared intermittently on the radars for approximately 12 minutes, from Colibași (the Republic of Moldova) to Foltești and, subsequently, in the area of Oancea (Romania), a Ro-Alert message being sent in northern Galați County at 00:59. Two more F-16 aircraft belonging to the Romanian Air Force scrambled from the 71st Air Base in Câmpia Turzii.

The Eurofighter aircraft landed at Mihail Kogălniceanu at 01:50, and the Romanian Air Force F-16s returned to Câmpia Turzii Air Base around 02:30.

No impact with the ground of any aerial vehicle has been reported. Teams of specialists are ready to initiate searches in the area.
