In response to a media question regarding the reports claiming that Venezuela is seeking military equipment such as missiles and drones from China, Russia, and Iran to guard against potential attacks by the US, Chinese FM spokesperson Mao Ning stated on Tuesday that regarding the US using military means to strike so-called drug cartels in the Caribbean, China's position is clear.
Mao said that China supports enhanced international cooperation in combating transnational crime, but opposes the use or threat of using force in international relations, opposes actions that undermine peace and stability in Latin America and the Caribbean, and opposes unilateral so-called law enforcement operations against vessels of other countries that exceed reasonable and necessary limits.
"We hope the US will carry out normal law enforcement and judicial activities within bilateral and multilateral legal frameworks," said Mao, adding that China's normal exchanges and cooperation with Venezuela are conducted between sovereign states, without targeting at any third party, nor are they subject to interference or influence by any third party.
